The project Maximizing the integration capacity of the European Union: Lessons and prospects for enlargement and beyond (MAXCAP) was funded by the EU’s 7th Framework Programme for Research, technological development and
demonstration, and was implemented from April 1st, 2013 to March 31, 2016.The project focuses on delivering critical analysis of the effects of the enlargement policy on the stability, democracy and prosperity of candidate countries, on the one hand, and the EU’s institutions, on the other. The aim of the project is to investigate how the EU can maximize its integration capacity for current and future enlargements and give concrete policy recommendations.
