Closing Event “Smart Green Village for Sustainable Future”

Today in Ropotovo, we officially presented the results of the Smart Green Village for a Sustainable Future project, implemented with the support of the Open Society Foundations – Western Balkans. The event showcased the key achievements of the project, as well as the findings of the pre-feasibility study assessing the potential of the village and surrounding area for the development of a solar farm – an important step toward local production of clean, renewable energy.

The event featured an opening presentation by Vesna Shapkoski, Executive Director of the association, who highlighted the project activities and main accomplishments, including the successful implementation of six educational workshops, the establishment of the Green Resource Hub, and the community composting process, culminating in the first batch of organic humus shared with local residents, institutions, and the business community.

Following this, Andrej Stojkoski, a civil engineer and one of the authors of the pre-feasibility study, presented the key findings, confirming that Ropotovo possesses significant natural and spatial conditions for developing a modern energy facility, contributing to the community’s sustainable energy future.

The event continued with a discussion and planning of next steps for green energy initiatives, including opportunities for future local solar energy projects and additional activities supporting sustainable agriculture and organic waste management.

Through continued collaboration and future initiatives, we remain committed to building stronger, smarter, and energy-sustainable rural communities.

This activity was implemented within the project “Smart Green Village for Sustainable Future,” supported by the Open Society Foundations – Western Balkans.
