Green infrastructure for a sustainable future

Green infrastructure is an essential component of sustainable development, blending natural and human-made systems to address environmental challenges while promoting biodiversity, improving air quality, and enhancing urban spaces. By integrating green spaces into urban and rural settings, communities can enjoy cleaner air, cooler temperatures, better flood management, and a more harmonious relationship with nature.

The emergence of green infrastructure reflects a growing global commitment to address urbanization challenges sustainably. Cities and regions that adopt green practices benefit from:

  • Improved air and water quality
  • Climate resilence
  • Enhanced biodiversity
  • Social and economic gains

The G-PACT project implemented by the partners of the CB area of Bulgaria and North Macedonia includes significant initiatives for green infrastructure promotion and development. The project includes community engagement CB initiatives (seminars and workshops in ecosystem services, photo contest), green pulse training modules, networking actions and infrastructure development in both sides of the cross-border area.

The Green Pulse Cross-Border Pact project is co-funded by European Union through the Interreg IPA CBC Programme Bulgaria-North Macedonia 2021-2027.
