Interpretation of the mutual history of modern time

Interpretation of the mutual history of modern time

The association Peace Action and the History teachers association of Macedonia (HTAM) are implementing the project “Interpretation of the mutual history of modern time “. The project is a 12 months’ initiative that started on June the 1st 2020, and its goal is: Created peacebuilding partnerships within the education system.

Through the implementation of the project, we will start a process for opening a constructive dialogue among the history teachers from the primary and secondary schools from our country.  Starting this dialogue with the teachers, together we will create recommendations for the curriculum of the subject History, that will contain and will be supportive for enhancing a system of civic values with the students.

Peace Action and HTAM will work with the teachers on a process of a change of the perception about the interculturalism through the subject History in the schools.

It is our opinion that this school subject is a key when speaking about peacebuilding and lessening and breaking the stereotypes towards “the other”. It is also important for opening a process to start a dialogue among the professionals, when it comes to the interpretation of the History from the second half of the 20th Century and the beginning of the 21st Century.

Through the implementation of the project, Peace Action and HTAM are strengthening its mutual partnership and by this they are stronger in their civic engagement, participation and transparency towards their stakeholders, but also towards the society in Macedonia in general and the civil society.

Our final goal is to promote policies for peacebuilding and a culture of remembrance among the civil society, education institutions and other relevant stakeholders from our country.

The total budget of the project is 3.170. 493 MKD, and it is financially supported by the program Civica Mobilitas and the Federal Ministry for Economic Development and Cooperation – Germany, through Peace Action partners KURVE, Wustrow from Germany.
