CONSTITUENTS

Main constituents: local inspectors in 80 municipalities and the City of Skopje, Inspection Council, at least nine CSOs and citizens of the Skopje, Northeast region (municipalities of Kriva Palanka, Kumanoco and Kratovo) and the Southwest region (municipalities of Struga, Ohrid and Debar).

LOCAL INSPECTION SERVICES IN THE INTEREST OF THE CITIZENS

BACKGROUND

Information and participation of CSOs in the creation and decision making on the decentralization of the local inspectorates according to local needs, practices and services according to the expectations of the citizens as well as increasing the involvement of the grassroot organizations in the improvement of the local public policies on inspection supervision. 

GOALS AND RESULTS

Goal: Independent and efficient inspection services at local level working in the interest of the citizens

Objectives: Improving the functionality and transparency of the local inspection supervision and stimulating the two-way communication with the CSOs and citizens.

RESULTS

  • Increased cooperation of the municipalities with the Inspection Council and among the municipalities themselves, by exchange of knowledge, information and good practices;
  • Citizen initiative for improving the legal framework for local inspection supervision;
  • Informed citizens on the work and competencies of the local inspection services.

ACTIVITIES

  1. Workshops for local inspectors in 8 planning regions;
  2. Recommendations for improvement of the legal framework;
  3. Public debate;
  4. Informative meetings of the inspectors with CSOs and citizens: “Meet Your Inspector”;
  5. Production of informative multimedia contents;
  6. Recommendations for bigger transparency and two-way communication of the inspection services with the citizens;
