ON THE PROJECT SUPPORTED BY CIVICA MOBILITAS

Citizens for development

BACKGROUND

The problem covered by this project is general and long-term. It is about information and preparedness about civic participation of, first of all, young people from rural environments in order to have social and economic development of these environments which will enable the young people to stay in the improved rural environments instead of moving out massively.

GOALS AND RESULTS

Goal: Create a basis of informed and active citizens and in this way a strong civil sector for successful cooperation with the state in creating and implementing policies first at local, and then at regional and national level.

Objectives:

  • Inclusion of the citizens from the rural/neglected environments, focusing on the young people with economic, educational, minority and other difficulties in the social processes;
  • Active participation of these citizens and supporting self-initiative for activity for development of rural environments;
  • Promoting gender equality in these environments because it is there that the patriarchal spirit and traditional and culturological influence is stronger.

RESULTS

  1. Citizens obtaining knowledge that they will use to get actively involved in the processes, and/or they get organized in CSOs which will then actively participate in the processes of policy creation and decision making leading to better policies and practices, first at local and then at state level;
  2. Participation leads to active civic engagement in civic initiatives, organizations, local economic councils, local action groups, activities, etc. for helping and cooperation with the local self-government and the state in crucial places and in crucial situations;
  3. Cooperation among the citizens in general and the CSOs more specifically will lead to creation of alliances of the civil society. Preparing partnerships and strengthening the civil sector via the local self-government will lead to fulfilment of integration and harmonization with the European Union;
  4. Fulfilling a delegated competence as a crucial possibility for an CSO to grow, and a municipality, instead of sector development, employments and creation of departments, makes savings by giving the competence to a CSO, covers a sector and further develops.

ACTIVITIES

  1. Civic participation trainings (8 in total);
  2. Campaign for promotion of the project at the social networks and local media.
