Citizens for Change no. 11: Persisting in Changes in the Next 365 Days

Civica Mobilitas has published the eleventh issue of “Citizens for Change” newsletter which focuses on civic participation. In this issue, we use twenty-two stories to tell stories about successful actions, initiatives, projects of the civil sector in the last quarter of 2021.

The year ended with the news of yet another success of the CSOs, which pertains the menstrual poverty in our country. The municipal council members of the City of Skopje voted in an amendment and allocated MKD 2 million in 2022 for free of charge menstrual products for the high school students in the schools that are within the competence of the city. This was a follow-up of the publishing of the study “Menstrual Justice: Assessment of the State of Affairs with Menstrual Poverty and Recommendations for Policy Improvements”, prepared Tiiiiit! Inc. and Reactor – Research in Action.

We have also written about our colleagues from the Rural Coalition who created a virtual market for agricultural produce, “Our Stall” to help the women from the rural environments catch up with the new digital times. Via the event of Platform of CSOs for Fight against Corruptionwe have marked the International Day of Human Rights with the campaign against gender based violence #далиЕоваЗНАК (#isthisaSIGN), implemented by the Roma Association for Women and Youth “Luludi”.

Read about the Manual on Media Literacy for Parents, created by RESIS – Institute for Social Development Researchor watch the documentary “Women Insufficiently Represented at the Local Elections” via which SCOOP Macedonia – Center for Investigative Journalism managed to “pack” the macho mentality of the 2021 local elections via candidatures for mayors.
