Pokrov: A Gateway Out of Hell
The path out of hell is difficult, but not impossible. It is filled with numerous challenges and obstacles, and overcoming it requires willpower and determination. Through the testimonies of people addicted to drugs, alcohol, and gambling who decided to walk this thorny path, we bring you the story from the therapeutic community “Pokrov.”
Established six years ago in the village of Banitsa near Strumica, around twenty addicts have successfully overcome their vices there so far. They share how they were written off and marginalized by their families and communities, and how, in just a year and a half, they transformed into new individuals with plans for the future.
The story was produced within the project “Reporting on Civil Society and Its Impact on Social Change,” implemented by the Macedonian Institute for Media in partnership with the Center for Investigative Journalism – SKUP Macedonia, with financial support from the Civica Mobilitas program.
