The editorial board of LokalAktiv will include professional journalists and at least 10 activists from civic organizations who, through mentorship and collaboration, will create content on topics that are important to the local community. According to the published content, civil organizations will plan advocacy activities with the aim of influencing the resolution of the problems they wrote about in the presentations published on LokalAktiv.

Community media are non-profit media that are owned and accountable to the communities they serve. They are open to the participation of all community members in the creation and maintenance of editorial policy and content. LokalAktiv is a non-profit online medium owned by civic organizations from the Eastern and Southeastern regions. It is the first online community medium of its kind in the country.

LokalAktiv was created within the framework of the project “Encouraging civic engagement in local government – Local Active Media” which the RESIS Institute is implementing in cooperation with civic organizations in the Eastern and Southeastern regions, and with the support of the National Endowment for Democracy (NED). In the second phase of this project, RESIS is also working on the establishment of an online medium for the communities of civil organizations from the Vardar region.
