Strengthening Regional Connections for Digital Innovation: Participation in Moldova Digital Summit 2026

As part of the Regional Support Mechanism EECA, implemented by the Metamorphosis Foundation and TechSoup, in partnership with CIVICUS and under the Digital Democracy Initiative (DDI) that covers the Global South, representatives from supported organizations continue to strengthen their capacities, expand regional networks, and foster innovative approaches to digital transformation.

Through the participation of several subgrantees from the Digital Spark granting scheme, at the Moldova Digital Summit 2026, held on 5–6 June in Chișinău, Moldova, valuable opportunities were created for knowledge exchange, partnership development, and regional collaboration.

During the two-day summit, participants engaged in discussions on emerging technological trends and explored how digital solutions can be applied to improve processes within the agricultural sector. The event also provided an opportunity to connect with local and regional stakeholders, research institutions, and developers of digital tools, resulting in the establishment of new partnerships and opening avenues for future cooperation, joint initiatives, and knowledge transfer.

The summit further served as a platform for presenting innovative civic technology solutions designed to strengthen democratic participation. One of the supported initiatives showcased a gamified mobile application aimed at increasing youth civic and political engagement. Through workshops and networking sessions, the project connected with education and technology professionals and established promising partnerships with educational institutions interested in promoting and piloting the application among secondary school students.

This experience demonstrates the impact of the Regional Support Mechanism EECA, which, through the support from CIVICUS and under the Digital Democracy Initiative (DDI), provides civil society actors across Eastern Europe and Central Asia with opportunities to access knowledge, build partnerships, and develop innovative solutions that strengthen democratic participation and resilient communities in the digital age.
