IMPETUS Contributes to EURODIG 2026 Discussions on Online Safety and Digital Rights

IMPETUS was invited to participate in EURODIG 2026 (European Dialogue on Internet Governance) through the regional initiative “Driving Inclusive Digital Governance: CyberEast+ and CyberSEE Foster Multi-Stakeholder Collaboration at EuroDIG 2026 and Beyond”, implemented by the Council of Europe.

The initiative brought together representatives of governments, academia, the private sector, the technical community, and civil society to contribute to policy discussions on the future of Internet governance and digital policy in Europe. During the discussions, particular attention was given to online safety for children and young people, social media regulation, age verification mechanisms, personal data protection, and the protection of digital rights.

Representing the civil society perspective, IMPETUS highlighted the importance of ensuring that legislative and policy measures are proportionate, evidence-based, and fully respectful of fundamental rights. Protecting children online should not rely solely on restrictions, but should also include prevention, digital literacy, public awareness, accessible support services, and effective reporting mechanisms.

Participation in EURODIG 2026 further strengthens IMPETUS’ commitment to contributing to European policy dialogue and promoting a safer, rights-based, and more inclusive digital environment through education, advocacy, and citizen support services.
