GreenFriday6: “Exchange instead of waste” – small habits with big impact

The sixth edition of “Green Friday” was realized with great interest and positive energy, once again dedicated to the initiative “Exchange instead of waste”. The event was organized in response to the interest of citizens who were unable to get involved the previous time, and this time it showed that such actions have real value and potential to grow into a regular practice.

The event was attended by about 20 participants, most of them young people, who actively engaged in the exchange of items: clothes, books, household items and other usable items. The space was filled with dynamics, but also with a sense of community and sharing, where everyone brought something of their own, and left with something they needed.

In addition to the exchange itself, the event also opened important conversations about sustainable living, waste reduction and the importance of reuse. Participants discussed how everyday choices affect the environment and how small changes in habits can have a significant effect.

Particularly encouraging was the attitude of a large number of participants who recognized the exchange not only as a one-time event, but as a practice that should become part of their everyday lives. It is this change in perception – from an event to a habit – that is one of the most significant results of this edition of “Green Friday”.

With such initiatives, the community is taking a step forward towards more responsible and solidary living, where the value of objects does not end with their first use.

*The activity is within the framework of the project “Eco Initiative: Citizens and Local Government in Action for Environmental Protection!”, implemented by the STANICA PET Association, within the framework of the sub-granting program of the project “Good Environmental Governance of the Green Agenda for the Western Balkans”, implemented by the Center for Legal Research and Analysis, the Macedonian Association of Young Lawyers and Front 21/42, and is financially supported by the European Union.
