CLRA meets with European Commissioner Marta Kos and civil society representatives

On July 8th, European Commissioner for Enlargement Marta Kos visited the Republic of North Macedonia to discuss the country’s progress on its path towards the European Union, as well as the implementation of key reform priorities, with a particular focus on the Reform Agenda under the Growth Plan for the Western Balkans.

As part of the visit, the Commissioner held a meeting with representatives of civil society and the media, where discussions focused on the implementation of key reforms related to the country’s accession to the European Union, with particular emphasis on the rule of law.

During the discussion, the Centre for Legal Research and Analysis (CLRA) highlighted the importance of ensuring consistent alignment of reform processes with the European Union’s negotiating framework, particularly in relation to Chapter 23 – Judiciary and Fundamental Rights. CLRA emphasised the need for reforms to be substantive, transparent and based on measurable results, as a prerequisite for progress in the accession process and further strengthening of the rule of law.
