CONSTITUENTS

The constituents of this project are the persons with special needs (intellectual, physical, and other disabilities), the groups of the day care centres, in families and self-sufficient people with disabilities. Apart from them, constituents are also professional actors who will be their partners and work together with them via a theatre play at the stage of the Macedonian National Theatre (MNT).

KUM TEODOS/ 2020 – Inclusive Theatre Performance

BACKGROUND

This project fulfils the legal rights and freedoms of the people with disabilities. So far, a number of social, educational and sport possibilities have been provided in our country for fulfillment of their personal rights, but not in the area of culture. With this proposal we are creating culture without discrimination. We offer conditions for creative expression of each individual, which is in the context of the ratification of the Convention on the Rights of the People with Disabilities in Macedonia, where the country has serious obligations to implement a series of activities in accordance with it.

GOALS AND RESULTS

Goal: Fulfilment and protection of human rights – cultural rights of the people with disabilities

Objectives:

• Inclusion of the people with special needs with other people, in cultural activities;
• Providing equal participation of the people with special needs in the civil society;
• Improving the quality of living of the people with special needs;
• Raising public awareness on the right of equality and non-discrimination;
• Eliminating the prejudices and discriminatory attitudes.

RESULTS

1. Inclusion and acceptance of the people with special needs in the community;
2. Equality of the people with and without disabilities in the society;
3. Fulfillment of the people with special needs in creative expression;
4. Equality between the people with typical and atypical development (people “without” and “with” disabilities);
5. Equality and non-discrimination.

ACTIVITIES

1. Presentation of the project proposal in the day care centres for people with special needs, institutions, small communal homes, boarding homes, and other types of institutions that take care of people with disabilities in our country;
2. Trainings of mentors for the groups and the people with special needs in order to select talented persons (for dance, acting, music, mime);
3. Drama workshops with people with disabilities, led by professional actors, directors, mime actors;
4. Choreography workshops – with professional dancers, choreographers;
5. Music workshops – with musicians, music authors, arrangement authors, composers, performers;
6. Staging drama etudes/scenes- mise-en-scène, in cooperation with a professional director and assistant director;
7. Final performance – 2, 3, 4 December, with included debate meeting with the leadership, mentors and artistic team of the association.
