VOLUNTARY FIREFIGHTING COMPANY SVETI NIKOLE

Total budget: MKD 328.829

Timeframe: 01.12.2020 – 30.04.2021 (5 months)

CONSTITUENTS

The constituency of the Voluntary Firefighting Company (DPD) are its volunteer members, children, collaborators, partners and supporters who contribute to decreasing the risks of fire, other natural disasters (floods, earthquakes, erosions, winds etc.), traffic accidents and epidemics. To this aim, there are preventive and educational activities, implemented via the educational system, workshops, lectures, informative campaigns and they are launched via the social networks and media, of course, by undertaking direct actions and interventions to save lives and municipal properties.

ON THE PROJECT SUPPORTED BY CIVICA MOBILITAS

Voluntary firefighting companies, active social actors!!

BACKGROUND

With all relevant state actors who cover the issue of firefighting protection and rescue, there is no information on how many societies there are, there is no available register on voluntary firefighting societies, there is no information to what extent these societies are active, what capacities and resources (human, material, technical, financial, etc.) they have, there is no channel and methodology for cooperation and networking of the existing DPDs. The only data that could be accessed until several months ago were the ones of the Firefighting Association of Macedonia; however, unfortunately, their domain http://www.psm.mk is no longer functional. According to their data, at the territory of RSM there are 98 voluntary firefighting societies, organized in 38 municipal firefighting alliances (OPPS) and a number of 2,600 active firefighters-volunteers. According to the data of the RSM Central Registry, there are 88 registered firefighting societies, while on the other hand, the data of the Public Revenue Office of RSM show that there are only 28 voluntary firefighting societies active in the payment transactions. Our long-term experience in the field work and communication with the societies of our surrounding shows that even the PRO number of 28 DPDs is not credible.

Because of these reasons, DPD Sveti Nikole aims to conduct a research in order to determine the number of active and legally registered voluntary firefighting societies or other forms of association of these societies (alliances, networks, coalitions), their capacities and expertise that they have (human, spatial, firefighting equipment, vehicles, finances, etc.), the needs and problems that they are facing in their work and in which direction they could be organized, networked and developed, in order to meet the needs of the population for whom they exist, and raise the level of firefighting awareness and culture, prevention of fires, other natural disasters, traffic accidents, epidemics and protection of the environment.
