Presented the awards for volunteering

Within the national forum “Civic Engagement and Volunteering”, organized by Civica Mobilitas and the partners, the National Council for Development and Volunteering and the Ministry of Labor and Social Policy presented the national awards for volunteering for 2015.

The importance of volunteering work which is indispensable element of social processes was stressed, since volunteers, through their work, contribute to changes, thus emphasizing the humane dimension of volunteering. The presentation of awards was envisaged in four categories, upon a previous public call for the interested organizations.

The first category award – volunteer of the year was won by Sibil Bajram for her multi-year experience and contribution to the education of Roma children.

Within the first category the certificates of appreciation were also awarded to two volunteers, Biljana Pesheva from Skopje and Persa Stojanovska from Delcevo for their continuous involvement in volunteering engagements.

The second category award – volunteering practice was won by the organization Art of Living in Macedonia from Skopje for their activities of assistance to socially deprived families in Macedonia.

The third category award – medium which by its editorial policy promotes volunteering engagements was won by Nasha TV, which by its programs, debating programs, covers economic topics and activities of civil society organizations that stimulate the participation of the business community in volunteering activities.

Within the fourth category the certificates of acknowledgement were awarded to organizations that include volunteering engagement and promotion of volunteering. The organizations which received certificates of acknowledgement are the Youth Cultural Center from Bitola, Red Cross of Macedonia, and Volunteering Center Skopje.

On 3 December 2015, the Youth Cultural Center from Bitola awarded the Golden volunteering certificates for volunteering engagement during the year. Golden volunteering certificates were awarded to: the organization Legis for its contribution to the humanitarian actions to help the refugees; volunteering initiative “Retweet a meal” which is a continuous action of the twitter community in which the activists cook the meals previously announced on the social media, and then they give them to homeless people in Skopje, and the initiative “On bike” by its activity Critical mass for raising the bike-culture in Macedonia.
