Civica mobilitas awards ten new grants

The Civica mobilitas grant selection committee reviewed the submitted applications and recommended that ten of them proceed to contracts. A total of 34 organisations (the list of grantees is at the end of this text) will implement the projects. The total budget for these grants is approximately 55,5 million denars, and the implementation will last between 24 and 28 months.

The grants are designed to increase active citizen involvement in the planning and implementation of projects, as well as to improve citizen participation in the governance of civil society organisations (CSOs). Financial support will be used to carry out specific actions to engage citizens across all eight planning regions.

A total of 57 applications were submitted by 184 organisations by the deadline of 12th April 2024. Of these, 57 organisations applied as lead applicants, while 127 applied as partners. A total of 49 applications met the administrative criteria and were forwarded to the evaluation committee.

Below are the grant recipients and the actions they will implement:

1. Environmental Resource Centre (REC) – North Macedonia, Skopje, in partnership with Eco-Logic Skopje and Florozon – Centre for Environmental Democracy, Skopje, will implement the project “Civic Activism for Achieving a Circular Economy in Organic Waste Management.”

2. Finance Think – Institute for Economic Research and Policies, Skopje, in partnership with Macedonian Civic Education Centre (MCEC) Skopje, Youth Educational Forum Skopje, 360 Degrees – Centre for the Development and Promotion of Democracy, Media, and Journalism Standards Skopje**, and the Macedonian Medical Association Skopje, will implement the project “Civic Monitoring: Bridging the Gap Between Political Promises and Achievements in Four Development Areas.”

3.Helsinki Committee for Human Rights, Skopje, in partnership with HOPS – Healthy Options Project Skopje and Coalition Margins Skopje, will implement the project “Equality Now – Empowering Marginalised Communities for Social Inclusion and Non-Discrimination.

4. Centre for Assistance to People with Mental Disabilities Poraka Negotino, in partnership with Eco-Zhivot Kavadarciand the Association of People with Cerebral Palsy and Other Disabilities Veles, will implement the project “Facing Challenges and Stigmatisation.”

5. Humanitarian Association Majka, Kumanovo, in partnership with Regional Centre for Cooperation Spektar Kriva Palanka, Foundation for Development of Small and Medium Enterprises Kumanovo, and Regional Centre for Sustainable Development Kratovo, will implement the project “Active Women.”

6. Centre for Development and Promotion Promo Idea, Strumica, in partnership with Novus – Centre for Research and Analysis Strumica and the Association for Improving Citizens’ Quality of Life Kruna Plus Radovish, will implement the project “Youth Network for Financial Literacy in the Southeast.”

7. Association for the Protection of Workers’ Rights Glasen Tekstilec, Štip, in partnership with EHO Educational-Humanitarian Organisation Štip and the Initiative of Unemployed Intellectuals Vinica, will implement the project “Through Women’s Activism and Initiatives to Gender-Inclusive and Responsible Municipalities.”

8. Association for Democratic Initiatives, Gostivar, in partnership with Centre for Education and Development Tearce, Institute for Leadership and Public Policy Tetovo, and Institute for Social Change InSoK Tetovo, will implement the project “Empowering Youth: Promoting Civic Engagement and Entrepreneurship in the Polog Region.”

9. Scout Unit Krste Jon, Struga, in partnership with Centre for Sustainable Community Development Debar and Regional Green Centre Ohrid, will implement the project “Let’s Learn About Climate Change!!!

10. Centre for Civic Initiative, Prilep, in partnership with Station P.E.T. Prilep and Multi-Ethnic Association for All Ages Crnilishte, Dolneni, will implement the project “Her Voice – Her Power: Empowering Marginalised Women and Girls in Pelagonia.”
