Do we know what kind of social changes we cause?

“You come from different organizations and reach out to completely different target groups. You talk about your organization in a different way with a friend, donor or a government institution representative.” In this way, Simon Forester, an international expert of Civica Mobilitas, started today’s workshop (21.2.2018) “Measuring and communicating the social change that you cause”.

16 representatives of the institutional and action grants of Civica Mobilitas took part in the workshop. The users of institutional grants often face obstacles to effectively present their achievements, since these grants regard the internal strengthening of their organizations. Besides Forester, Dusko Todoroski, from the Association Zenit, and Gonce Jakovleska, from the Macedonian Center for International Cooperation, facilitated today’s sessions.

During the workshop, the “Chain of results”, measure indicators were presented, as well as the importance of effective communication for the civil society organizations was discussed. The positive examples of civil society organizations from Macedonia and abroad, which know how to share the data about their projects and campaigns, were also shared.

The practical part consisted of individual and group exercises in which the participants could apply what they had learnt to the example of the organization from which they came. They agreed that sometimes they committed themselves to their project work too much, and did not pay sufficient attention to present to the public what they did. According to them, this is a result of a lack of human resources which can be in charge of communications.
