Civica Mobilitas promoted the new grantees
Today (16 May 2017) in hotel TCC Grand Plaza in Skopje, Civica Mobilitas promoted the new action, small and ad hoc grantees. “Civica Mobilitas has reached the planned critical mass of 100 large grantees, while the total number of supported organizations in one year and a half before the end of the program is 197”, Aleksandar Krzalovski, National Team Leader of the program and first Executive Director of MCIC, said in his remarks.
The Swiss Ambassador to Macedonia, Her Excellency Sybille Suter Tejada, awarded the contracts to the grantees. “In such a sensitive political and social environment, the civil society has an emphasized role in promotion of dialogue in the society”, she said and added that the Civica Mobilitas grantees are already distinguished drivers of change. the Ambassador Suter Tejada also stressed the role of young people from different ethnic communities, “I am truly pleased that we have numerous organizations led by young people, she said.
A total number of 15 organizations received action grants intended for support to the civil society organizations which want to promote their causes and activities with a total budget of over 28 million denars. The planned activities will be directed to many sectors such as: good governance, civil society, gender issues, inter-ethnic relations, tolerance, culture, disabilities, employment, education and science, information, etc. The awarded organizations come from the Skopje, Polog, Northeastern, and Vardar region. The planned activities of the action grantees were presented through short videos.
At this event, eight small action grants and 14 ad hoc grantees were promoted with a budget of almost 7.5 million denars. These organizations, through their activities, will focus on debate, elections, environment, local self-government, human rights, inter-ethnic relations, youth, etc.
The new support for the civil society organizations and other civil society actors through the Civica Mobilitas program started in October 2014 and it will last till September 2018. The Budget of the program is about eight million Swiss francs.
