Civica Mobilitas Launches Its First National Forum

Civic engagement and volunteering are the central themes of the First National Forum of Civica Mobilitas, which began today at 11:00 a.m. at the Youth Cultural Center (MKC) in Skopje.

“Volunteering is at the heart of today’s event because it holds the power to mobilize the entire civil society from which social change is expected,” said Aleksandar Krzalovski, Executive Director of MCIC and National Team Leader of Civica Mobilitas, at the Forum’s opening.

On behalf of the Bitola Youth Cultural Center, Zlatko Talevski addressed the audience, emphasizing that MKC is committed to the long-term development of volunteering in Macedonia. “I want to acknowledge the Civica Mobilitas team for organizing this event, as it brings together, for the first time, all organizations and institutions that work with volunteers in one place. Strengthening our mutual cooperation will contribute to the growth of volunteering in Macedonia,” Talevski said, concluding with the guiding idea behind MKC’s work in volunteering: “Volunteering is not just free labor – volunteering creates and develops.”

Speeches were also delivered by Gjoko Volkanovski from the Volunteer Center Skopje, which celebrates its 10th anniversary this year, and Nikica Kusenikova from the National Council for the Development of Volunteering.

The Forum features several events dedicated to volunteering — including the Volunteer Awards Ceremony, a public debate, and a Social Change Fair. The program of the National Forum will conclude at 8:30 p.m.

The National Forum is organized by Civica Mobilitas in cooperation with its institutional grantees: Anima Mundi, Megjashi, and Solidarnost; action grantees: Red Cross of the City of Skopje and Diversity Media; as well as the Volunteer Center Skopje, MKC-Bitola, the National Youth Council of Macedonia, the National Council for the Development of Volunteering, and the Scout Association of Macedonia.
