SHORT DESCRIPTION OF the ORGANIZATION

The Association for Local and Rural Development is a CSO which was founded in 2006 and it works on promoting gender issues at local and national level. The organization has an active contribution in overcoming the patriarchal values, especially in the rural environments, as well as improving the economic position of women. The values that the association is based on are non-violence, multiculturalism, transparency and accountability, equality, sustainable development, networking, civic activism, social justice and involvement of various civil groups in the society.

CONSTITUENTS

The constituents of the Association for Local and Rural Development are long-term collaborators and members of the association, and they include: representatives/municipal officers of the sectors for local economic development, education, other CSO representatives, business sector representatives. They are involved in the organization in various ways, i.e. as users, members, volunteers and supporters. The constituents have various socio-demographic characteristics with respect to their place of living, revenues, gender, ethnic affiliation, age and education.

The main target group of the organization are the local self-governments, women and young from the rural environments in the Polog region, especially in the region of Mavrovo and Rostusha municipalities.

RESULTS

  • Adopted Strategy for Promotion of the Possibilities of Sustainable Collection of Medicinal and Aromatic Herbs;
  • Increased capacities of the members of the organization and other organizations at local level;
  • Developed volunteering practice and volunteers involved in the organization;
  • Prepared Strategy for Cooperation of the Local Self-Government with the Civil Sector.
