CONSTITUENTS

The constituents are diverse when it comes to several socio-demographic features, such as the social status, age, education, ethnic affiliation and gender.

Some of the constituents are: representatives of rural environments, Parliament, Government, judiciary, local self-governments, media and educational institutions.

ON THE PROJECT SUPPORTED BY CIVICA MOBILITAS

INTERSECTORAL DISCRIMINATION IN N. MACEDONIA

BACKGROUND

The purpose of this action is to promote human rights via full implementation of the regulations on fight against discrimination and thus the European Union accession process of the country. In the essence of the project there is the human rights based approach by introducing an intersectoral overview of the theme with a special overview of the most vulnerable categories of the population. This innovative approach will enable strengthening of the free legal that the partners provide to their beneficiaries.

GOALS AND RESULTS

Goal:

Strengthening the citizen participation by inclusion of CSOs in the creation and decision making in the area of protection from discrimination in the Republic of North Macedonia.

Objectives:

Establishing a monitoring system of the policies and legislation in the area of protection from discrimination, with a special focus on the work of the new Commission for Prevention and Protection from Discrimination by development of innovative methods for understanding the intersectoral approach to discrimination.

RESULTS

  • Strengthened inner capacities for using innovative methods for intersectoral discrimination, especially by crossing the data from the partner organizations
  • Established regular monitoring for following the implementation of the Law for Prevention and Protection from Discrimination and work of the Commission for Prevention and Protection from Discrimination based on evidence;
  • Informed public on the novelties from the policies and legislation in the area of discrimination and improved system of free legal aid in the area of discrimination.

ACTIVITIES

  1. Preliminary mapping;
  2. Selection of an external expert for methodology preparation;
  3. Training for usage of intersectoral methodology;
  4. Implementation of a basic combined questionnaire for the vulnerable and marginalized communities;
  5. Organizing virtual forum(s) with the bodies in charge of implementing the policies for protection from discrimination;
  6. Organizing regional focus groups;
  7. Quarterly monitoring – via short public policy documents;
  8. Info graphs;
  9. Digital release of findings;
  10. Promoting of free legal aid;
  11. Preparation of the final publication.
