Citizens for Change #1

JANUARY - JUNE 2019

In front of you is the first edition of the magazine “Citizens for change”, a messenger of the Civica Mobilitas program for support of the civic society of the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC), but also, a messenger of the civil society in general. The name of the
magazine is taken from the slogan of the program which, we believe, clearly reflects the efforts of Civica Mobilitas, and more widely as well. Citizens are those who are and will be in the focus of interest, the citizens as users of the civil society organizations’ services, but also as initiators
and participants in social changes.

Civica Mobilitas supports civil society organizations and their development. This resulted in strengthened organizations, not just financially but also skills and knowledge-wise, and in their vivacity and their struggle to be asked and heard, to be an essential part of discussion and
policymaking in the country.

Civica Mobilitas was and still is one of the most significant programs for that support. Nearly 200 civil society organizations from the previous phase of the program became a part of the big grantees family. However, Civica Mobilitas is not exclusive community. The program
seeks to reach out to all citizens and civil society organizations to share the information and knowledge generated during its implementation.

That’s why we’re open to all organizations, to all actors within the civil society which will enable us to strengthen civil participation, improve cooperation, build relationships with our constituents and make our functioning environment better for work. “Citizens for Change” magazine of Civica Mobilitas should be a new accumulation and distribution point for information regarding civil society and themes relevant to it, a place to share analyses, dilemmas and discussions on important questions about the functioning of civil society. This magazine is one more part of the mosaic of Civica Mobilitas, through which the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC) has been supporting the civil sector for 10 years, and the support is not only financial, but also contented and essential, and that support
strengthened the sector and made it louder and more visible as well.

This is an announcement, but also a call to all colleagues to be a part of “Citizens for Change.” Let’s share information be¬cause once they get to where they’re needed, they will be worth it.
