Civica Mobilitas Promotes 38 New Grantееs

The family of Civica Mobilitas, from today (15 February 2017) has 159 grantees, and a total support for the contracts made from the beginning of the program is almost 262 million denars or a about over 4.5 million Swiss francs. At the event today, there were new institutional grants for 12  new institutional grants for 12 civil society organizations, small action grants for 15  civil society organizations,ad hoc grants for 9 civil society organizations and 2 fellowship grants promoted.

Her Excellency Mrs. Sybille Suter Tejada Ambassador of Switzerland to Macedonia, greeted the participants and presented the contracts to the grantees. “We are aware for the challenges and the difficulties that the civic society is facing, for that reason, your commitment to continue working for the development of the country, gender equality, respecting of the human rights and all kind of differences, deserves much more respect,” declared H.E. Ambassador Tejada. Furthermore, she highlighted that Switzerland strongly supports the democratization of Macedonia and its integration in EU, and through Civica Mobilitas they want to give concrete contribution to this process.

“The highest number of shared grants – 64 % are from the Skopje region, while 36 % are shared in other regions,” said Aleksandar Krzalovski, Civica Mobilitas national team leader and First Executive Director at Macedonian Center for International Cooperation. Regarding the topics which they deal with 18 % deal with good governing, 9 % deal with human rights and civic society in general, 8 % deal with environment, information, communication and media and children, youngsters and students. They are followed by education, health, etc. According to Krzalovski, 54 of the grants have already been finished.

With the support of the institutional grantees it will be contributed for their institutional development and strengthening of the organization. With the small action grants organizations will promote their goals in cooperation with other civic organizations, citizens and the local and national authorities. Ad hoc grants are intended for support of the urgent issues which emerge and who ask for urgent attention and action in each level of intervention in Macedonia.

Institutional grants must strengthen civic organizations which will make them more active in engaging in achieving social changes in Macedonia, as pledged by Civica Mobilitas.

Civica Mobilitas provides support for civic organizations and other actors of the civic society in the period from 2014 to 2018. The budget for the programme is 7.7 million swiss francs which were provided by the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC).
