Constituents

Active Women

ACTION DESCRIPTION 

Mobilising and involving women from rural communities in creating local policies and improving access to the labour market will contribute to gender-sensitising tools for civic participation, aimed at addressing the needs of women from rural communities and encouraging and empowering them for advocacy actions. At the same time, women will be informed about the opportunities in the labour market. The municipalities will develop a methodology for involving women from rural communities in planning and decision-making in their programmes and budgets. This contributes to ensuring that the voices of women from rural communities, their needs, and interests are heard, thereby ensuring that the policies developed and adopted meet the needs, interests, and demands of these women.

AIMS AND OUTCOMES 

General aim: To apply models for citizen participation in decision-making at the local level through gender-sensitising participation tools, to address the needs of women.

Specific aims:

– Empower rural women to act independently and contribute to the development of gender-sensitive policies in the programming and budgeting of the municipalities of Kumanovo, Kriva Palanka, and Kratovo.

– Empower rural women for inclusion in the labour market.

– Establish changes in the operations of the municipalities of Kumanovo, Kratovo, and Kriva Palanka towards introducing practices for consulting rural women.

OUTCOMES

  • Developed and implemented field education for rural women on self-mobilisation, budget literacy, media representation, and advocacy.
  • Empowered rural women for inclusion in the labour market / generating income / utilising employment measures/policies.
  • Local self-government and other relevant institutions are open to cooperation towards inclusive, transparent, and gender-responsive planning and budgeting or service provision.

ACTIVITIES

  • Coordinating meetings among partner organisations.
  • Engaging women from each community for coordination and mobilisation.
  • Preparing educational material.
  • Mobilising women from local communities.
  • Educating rural women on the process of public advocacy.
  • Developing advocacy actions.
  • Submitting requests to the municipality from each community for inclusion in the programme and budget for 2025/26 and 2026/27.
  • Educating on monitoring the work of local self-governments and budget literacy.
  • Training rural women in presentation skills needed for their future advocacy actions.
  • Organising public events in communities.
  • Organising regional meetings.
  • Educating unemployed rural women.
  • Monitoring the programmes and budgets of the municipalities of Kumanovo, Kriva Palanka, and Kratovo.
  • Meetings of rural women with the mayors of the municipalities.
  • Meetings of rural women with representatives of the municipalities.
  • Meetings of rural women with representatives of local institutions.
