A BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE SELECTED SPECIFIC TOPIC

The action includes conducting research on youth participation at the local level, organising public forums and debates with citizens and representatives of local authorities, as well as activities for strengthening the capacities of young people for active civic participation. The project also foresees the development of recommendations for improving local policies and their presentation to relevant institutions.

OBJECTIVES AND RESULTS

Overall objective:
To promote responsible and inclusive local governance through the development and application of an AI tool that will enable young people to actively participate in decision-making in Krushevo, Kumanovo, and Tetovo.

Specific objectives:

  • To establish a functional and digital database on youth in the three target municipalities, through systematic research, collection, and digitalisation of relevant documents, policies, and plans, as a data and analytical basis for the development of the AI tool
  • To develop and test an AI tool in cooperation with 90 young people from Krushevo, Kumanovo, and Tetovo, through which they will be able to interactively express their ideas, priorities, and proposals, while local authorities will receive systematised data for integrating youth needs into local policies and actions
  • To encourage institutional dialogue and public accountability through verification and institutionalisation of youth proposals, thereby strengthening cooperation between youth, civil society organisations, and municipalities towards responsible and inclusive local governance

RESULTS

  • Established, functional, and accessible AI tool in Krushevo, Tetovo, and Kumanovo enabling young people to actively participate in local decision-making by expressing ideas, needs, and proposals based on real data and open sources
  • Youth and municipalities have established continuous and structured communication through the AI tool, enabling regular exchange of information, youth initiatives, and local solutions
  • Adopted and confirmed concrete municipal plans for integration of youth proposals into local policies and programmes

ACTIVITIES

  • Preparation and aggregation of data for creating a functional digital database with systematised documents, strategies, and reports from the three municipalities
  • Building a structured database to be used by the AI tool
  • Development of a digital interface for the AI tool
  • Technical development of the AI tool including an AI module for municipal accountability
  • Organisation of an ideathon for young people from Krushevo, Tetovo, and Kumanovo and practical testing of the AI tool
  • Development of a standardised format for an “AI local report”
  • Organisation of 3 dialogue sessions for developing institutional dialogue and joint verification
  • Campaign “MY VOICE IN MY CITY”
  • Final event “YES, THIS IS MY VOICE IN MY CITY” (R4)
