The code will increase mutual trust among organizations and build a better image for them

Today, March 31, 2022, an online informational session was held for the Code of Civil Organizations, attended by 34 representatives from organizations that are grantees of the Civica Mobilitas program.

Participants were introduced to the process of preparing the Code, the benefits of this tool for greater accountability, and its purpose. “The Code serves as a catalyst for the continuous development of organizational values. It will strengthen the system of self-regulation, contributing to greater transparency, efficiency, and trust in civil organizations,” emphasized Aleksandra Saveska, project associate at the Macedonian Center for International Cooperation (MCMS).

Participants discussed their previous experiences in self-regulation within their organizations in groups and shared their views on the potential benefits of the Code, the challenges they might face in implementation, and how they would apply the tool in their work. The Code for Civil Organizations will help improve the quality of work within the organizations. This will lead to greater transparency, which will enhance trust between organizations in the sector and with citizens. It will also create a better image for donors, thus improving financial conditions, as concluded from the discussions.

Some participants expressed interest in signing the Code, noting that it arrives at an ideal moment for their organizations. They will receive support from the team responsible for implementation.

So far, a total of 62 civil organizations have signed, and all interested organizations wishing to join the Code can do so by completing the following statement (declaration for acceptance of the Code). The statements should be submitted to the Macedonian Center for International Cooperation at the following email: asv@mcms.mk. By joining, organizations become part of the platform for developing the Code and enhancing the transparency and accountability of the civil sector.
