Citizens for Change No. 11: Resilient in Change for the Next 365 Days

Civica Mobilitas has published the eleventh issue of the magazine “Citizens for Change,” which focuses on civic participation. In this edition, through twenty-two stories, we showcase successful actions, initiatives, and projects of the civil sector in the last quarter of 2021.

Just at the end of the year, news arrived marking yet another success for civil organizations, concerning menstrual poverty in our country. The councillors of the City of Skopje allocated 2 million denars in the 2022 budget for free menstrual products for high school students in schools under the city’s jurisdiction, following the acceptance of an amendment. This comes after the publication of the study “Menstrual Justice: Assessing the Situation of Menstrual Poverty and Recommendations for Policy Improvement,” prepared by Tiiiiiit! Inc. and Reactor – Research in Action.

We also wrote about our colleagues from the Rural Coalition, who created a virtual marketplace for agricultural products, “Our Stall,” to help women from rural areas keep pace with the new digital era. Through the event of the Platform of Civil Organizations for the Fight Against Corruption, we marked the International Anti-Corruption Day. We also highlight the International Human Rights Day through the campaign against gender-based violence #IsThisASign, carried out by the Roma Women and Youth Association “Luludi.”

Read about the Parent’s Guide to Media Literacy created by the Institute for Social Development Research – RESIS, or watch the documentary “Women Underrepresented in Local Elections,” through which the Center for Investigative Journalism – SKUP Macedonia managed to “pack” the macho mentality of the 2021 local elections through mayoral candidacies.

You can read the latest issue of the magazine in Macedonian, Albanian, and English.
