Citizens for changes – the Day of civil society organizations

In the City part on “Skolka” in Skopje, the national forum of Civica Mobilitas titled “Citizens for changes – the Day of civil society organizations” just started. Daniela Stojanova, Program Coordinator of Civica Mobilitas, welcomed all the visitors, activists, interested citizens being present.

The program covers about 30 events organized simultaneously, as well as performances of many musicians among which the choir Symbiosis, Shubre, Dzun, Contact 59, RIB, and Tamara Todevska.

The official opening of the event will be at 1 pm. The Swiss Ambassador to Macedonia, Her Excellency Sybille Suter Tejada will open the forum. In addition to her, Petrus Theunisz and Aleksandar Krzalovski, international, or national team leader, will address the audience. By this event, MCIC and Civica Mobilitas joined the campaign “Together we Speak” of  CIVICUS – World Alliance for Civic Participation whose key message is: the voices of common citizens are powerful and essential for the provision of just and sustainable future for all – now is the time for the governments to hear them and act upon them! In this part, Zvonko Shavreski from Polio Plus and Silvana Penshova, an activist for labor rights, will address the audience. At this event, the visitors will have the opportunity to be informed about the civil society organizations and their commitments and achievements, as well as to be actively involved in the activities foreseen for that day. The program is rich and diverse. Workshops and video projections will be organized in parallel in three tents. Helsinki Committee for Human Rights will organize a debate about the Law on Prevention and Protection against Discrimination. Multikultura through the workshop will talk about overcoming stereotypes and prejudices; the topic of the Federation of Mountain Sports is a safe movement through the Macedonian mountains, and the Young people, through World café, can talk about youth activism.  And, this is not all, we have planned contents for children comprised of workshops for drawing, making origami, and education in different topics. In the creative corner, the following exhibitions will be organized by the participating organizations such as “Refugees in your own country” of Public, “Monsters of Skopje” of the Youth Educational Forum, as well as you can see the the new urban action of the Center for Contemporary Art. Civica Mobilitas forums provide space for articulation of ideas, identification of joint causes and planning of joint social actions by the civil society organizations in cooperation with other organizations, authorities, citizens, and other actors.
